Jungle

I just completed some environment practice, focusing on jungles. I started with lots of research. Looking at different kinds of jungles and rain forests. I moved to value studies to learn from my reference. I then focused on shapes. I started in black and white to only focus on the shapes, after I added the midtones to bring it together. Working on all those studies helped me understand what to expect in a jungle, it also gave me ideas of what I wanted to show when I created my own. I wanted a very simple scene of a soldier all alone, wandering and exploring a jungle. This was done to practice creating an engaging scene and rendering an environment. The thumbnails helped me think through the scene I wanted to show. I tried many different options for the tree, it is a big focus of the piece and I wanted it to be unique and draw you in. I really enjoyed this type of work and look forward to more in the future! Enjoy!
